CityPlace Connected Community
CityPlace Video (4 minutes)
CityPlace is an initiative of Comprehensive Care of Wilmington, an all-volunteer non-profit organization founded in 2010. CityPlace is a housing-with-supports project focused on moderate-income seniors and young adults with disabilities wishing to continue living in the community.
In 2022, CityPlace began a collaboration with IndependentWorks, which is also dedicated to creating a housing community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). CityPlace has formed a partnership with Wesley Community Development Corporation, a non-profit, innovative development firm that works with faith groups to repurpose real estate holdings for projects such as affordable housing to advance their mission. Together, we have formed a collaboration with St. Luke AME Zion Church for a long-term ground lease for property near the church around 8th and Church Streets in downtown Wilmington. With the help of grants from the New Hanover Community Endowment, pre-construction activities have started in 2024, while capital will be raised to hopefully start construction in 2025.

We are beginning to prepare the land for construction now and would like to create a list of people possibly interested in living in this exciting new community. All survey responses will be kept confidential.
